The Domaine les Hautes-Briguières belongs to the southern Rhône Valley vineyard
The Domaine Les Hautes-Briguières has its roots in Southern Rhône Valley :
– 2nd French AOC vineyard (in volume with 2.2M hl)
– 32 appellations
– from the north of Drôme to the Provençal foothills, the vineyard follows the Rhône river, which is the common denominator
Our character wines come from the Ventoux AOC: an appellation at the foot of a mountain
We produce our wines under the’Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée AOC Ventoux, an AOC that derives its identity from the imposing presence of the Mount Ventoux — limestone giant peaking at 1,912 meters, nicknamed the «Giant of Provence».
Today, this colossus is a well-known challenge for cyclists worldwide. But its geological origin is more surprising, since during the Miocene Epoch, it was an island in the middle of the sea! This Giant of Provence plays a decisive role in the climate of our vineyard: it generates among the coolest and latest-ripening conditions in the southern Rhône Valley. Harvesting takes place later there than elsewhere in the South, which promotes a slow and gradual maturation of the grapes. Result: wines with a fine aromatic freshness, with a natural tension rare in these southern latitudes.
The Hautes-Briguières estate is located in a classified and preserved environment
Our vineyard is set in a natural environment of exceptional richness: we work within the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park, a protected territory that preserves unique landscapes, species, and ecosystems.
This park is also dual UNESCO Biosphere Reserve — international recognition that highlights the ecological and landscape value of the territory. Working the vines here means embracing a responsibility toward this natural heritage.
Our terroirs: two villages, two geological expressions
Domaine Les Hautes-Briguières produces on two sectors a few kilometers apart but with distinct geological personalities. Which allows us to express different wine profiles depending on the vintage:
to Mormoiron the terraced plots are located on a hill of 350 meters above sea level and are based on sandy soils and ochreous clays, a heritage of the Tertiary era seas that once covered this region. These ancient sediments, rich in iron-bearing minerals, give the wines a supple and light texture, allowing for subtle, fine, and elegant aromas.
to Saint-Estève de Blauvac On this second sector, we are working on clay-limestone soils, plus structured, which bring depth and tension to the wines. These soils favor vines with naturally controlled yields, producing concentrated grapes that yield very aromatic, powerful, rich, and tannic wines.
A terroir that we take care to preserve
We cultivate these lands with respect, respect for the plant, and preservation of the beauty of our region. For over 150 years, our family has maintained these soils and landscapes with a commitment to environmental protection, aware that the quality of wine is born first from the health of the land.
Our estate practices polyculture we also farm olive groves, some of which are centuries old, cherry orchards, vineyards for table grapes, and oak trees for truffle cultivation.
This agricultural diversity is an ancestral tradition, the result of a careful balance ecosystems (crop rotations). It contributes to the richness of local biodiversity and the beauty of the landscapes that make this corner of Provence unique.
